Departmental News of Artificial Intelligence & Data Science (B. Tech):
Third-year and final-year students of the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Engineering participated in the “Smart India Hackathon”. As part of the event, they presented their innovative ideas at the college-level. The initiative provided students with a platform to showcase their creativity, problem-solving skills, and technical expertise, fostering a spirit of innovation and teamwork. Students received guidance from faculty mentors to refine their solutions and align them with real-world challenges. The event encouraged collaboration across different domains and enhanced students’ practical understanding of AI and Data Science applications. Such initiatives motivate students to think critically, innovate, and prepare for national-level competitions with confidence.
The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Engineering students participated in the Institute-Level Poster Presentation Competition organized by the institute on 15/10/2025 and secured winning positions, showcasing their creativity and technical knowledge.
On the occasion of its 17th Foundation Day, YSPM, Satara organized a Blood Donation Camp to promote social responsibility and community welfare. The Head of the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Engineering, along with the department staff, actively participated in the event by donating blood. Several students from the department also contributed to this noble cause, reflecting the institution’s commitment to humanitarian values and collective service to society.
The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Engineering, Yashoda Technical Campus, Satara, proudly inaugurated its official student association — Artificial Intelligence Active Student Association (AIASA) — on 15th September 2025 at 10:00 AM.
The ceremony was held in the Department of AI & DS premises and was graced by:
- Dr. Vikram S. Patil – Principal, Yashoda Technical Campus
- Dr. Suraj R. Nalawade – Head, Department of AI & Data Science Engineering
- Prof. Himgouri O. Tapase – AIASA Coordinator along with all faculty members and students of the department.
The event began with the traditional ribbon-cutting and the official unveiling of the AIASA logo and banner, marking the formal launch of the association.
The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Engineering students brought laurels to Yashoda Technical Campus by shining at the prestigious Qhills Technology Hackathon, held at Yashwantrao Chavan Institute of Science, Satara, Maharashtra. A talented student team comprising Hardik Kowale, Shreeyash Taware, Sai Bhise, and Devdatta Salunkhe secured the First Prize in the AI Domain, winning a cash award of ₹10,000. Their innovative project, ‘Chat with GitHub Repo’, impressed the jury and stole the show, showcasing the students’ creativity, problem-solving skills, and technical excellence.
The Department of Artificial Intelligence & Data Science, Yashoda Technical Campus, Satara, has launched a new Robotics–AI Fusion Internship from 4th August to 14th August 2025. The program began with a workshop on 4th August 2025. Students will gain hands-on experience in integrating robotics with AI for applications in automation, smart manufacturing, and intelligent systems. The sessions covered AI-driven robotics, embedded intelligence, and modern industrial solutions.
Principal Dr. Vikram Patil emphasized that such programs connect academic learning with real industry needs, boosting employability and innovation skills. Conducted in collaboration with leading technology companies, the internship offers students valuable exposure to cutting-edge projects.
Students from the Department of Artificial Intelligence & Data Science, Yashoda Technical Campus, had the unique opportunity to visit the Indian Space Research Organisation – National Remote Sensing Centre (ISRO-NRSC) in Hyderabad for an educational study tour. The visit was organized under the guidance of Dr. Suraj Nalawade (HoD), Dr. Pravin Barapatre, Prof. Himgouri Tapase and Prof. Amruta Sanas. A total of 92 students participated in this enriching experience.
During the visit, students learned about:
1. The use of AI and Data Science in earth observation, environmental monitoring, and urban planning.
2. ISRO’s contributions to satellite technology, remote sensing applications, and national development.
3. Technical insights on satellite imagery analysis, GIS applications, and space technology innovations.
The session also included interactive discussions on ISRO’s latest missions, technological advancements, and career opportunities in the space research sector. Many students expressed their inspiration to contribute to India’s space research initiatives. The department extends sincere thanks to ISRO-NRSC for their warm hospitality and knowledge sharing, and looks forward to more such industry-academia interactions.
