Civil Engineering is deeply intertwined with the development of civilization itself. As civilization advanced, so did civil engineering, and as civil engineering evolved, it fueled the prosperity of societies. It is, without a doubt, the oldest branch of engineering. Every man-made structure on Earth is the product of civil engineers—conceived, designed, constructed, and maintained by them. Civil Engineering is a highly versatile and diverse field, encompassing numerous sub-disciplines, including Structural Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Foundation Engineering, Earthquake Engineering, Construction Engineering, and Project Management, among others. Civil engineers have the flexibility to become entrepreneurs, offering consultancy services for projects of various scales. They can also find employment in government, semi-government, and private sectors, where they apply their skills and expertise to contribute to national development and infrastructure growth.

The Civil Engineering Department at YTC boasts experienced, dynamic, and dedicated faculty, along with state-of-the-art laboratories. We equip our students with a solid foundation of scientific and technical knowledge, while fostering critical thinking skills that form the basis of their careers or further studies. Our aim is to instill a professional attitude, ethical values, creativity, leadership, innovative thinking, effective communication, teamwork, a multidisciplinary outlook, and social awareness in our students.

The department is committed to creating an intellectually stimulating environment where both faculty and students can thrive and excel in their professions.

The vision of the Civil Engineering Department is to become centre of excellence by producing Civil engineers having research and development activity, sound technical knowledge, professional skills and social awareness to serve society. We aim to produce globally competent, ethical civil engineers dedicated to building a sustainable society. Both students and faculty are actively engaged in research activities. The department embraces the "Industry-Institute Interaction" model to shape its curriculum, co-curricular, and extracurricular programs, organizing a range of events through student chapters. Our Industry-Institute Interaction Cell's mission is to bridge the gap between industry demands and academic outputs by fostering close collaboration between the academic and industrial sectors. We recognize the critical need for enhanced interaction between institutions and industries and strive to create a comprehensive 360-degree approach to support our students. Thanks to the efforts of our dedicated faculty and the advanced facilities available, our students are thriving in the construction industry, government sectors, and related fields.
